Editorial Policy

Every article, review, and guide published on USA Finance Lab is produced under a consistent editorial framework designed to ensure accuracy, fairness, and genuine usefulness to our readers.

Research-First Process

Before a word is written, our analysts gather primary source data: lender rate tables, card agreements, credit bureau methodology documents, and regulatory filings. Promotional materials from financial institutions are treated as claims to be verified — not facts to be repeated.

  • Direct review of cardholder agreements and loan disclosures
  • Rate and fee verification against current lender data at time of publication
  • Comparison against peer products using a standardized evaluation framework
  • Assessment of terms likely to affect real borrower outcomes

Fact-Checking Standards

Every factual claim must be sourced. We do not publish figures, statistics, or product details that cannot be verified against a primary source.

  • Rates and fees verified against issuer or lender disclosures at time of writing
  • Credit scoring information cross-referenced with official FICO and VantageScore documentation
  • Regulatory information confirmed through official government and agency sources (CFPB, Federal Reserve, FTC)
  • Statistical claims linked to original studies — not secondary reporting

Content Update Schedule

  • Credit card and loan reviews are audited quarterly at minimum
  • Rate-sensitive content is reviewed following significant market movements
  • Credit scoring content is reviewed after any announced methodology updates
  • All evergreen guides are reviewed on a rolling annual schedule

Content carries a ‘Last Reviewed’ date. Substantively revised content is updated with a new publication date.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial team operates independently from commercial partnerships. Editors and analysts are not involved in affiliate negotiations and are not informed of specific commercial arrangements when evaluating products.

Products are recommended when they earn a recommendation based on analytical criteria — not commercial relationships.

Corrections Policy

When errors are identified — by our team or flagged by readers — we correct them promptly and note the correction with a date. We do not quietly alter content without notation.
